GEAR UP PHL Tutor

Positions: 24

GEAR UP tutors work with 11th grade students at Lincoln, Franklin, and Eagle Rock High School.  The program takes place during the regular school day.

 

Schools: Franklin and Lincoln High School

Hathaway-Sycamores Youth Development Tutors (closed)

Positions:  6-8

Youth Development Tutors are expected to deliver direct services based at Hathaway-Sycamores to GRYD participants during the after school hours of 3-6pm, Monday through Thursday. Tasks and responsibilities include:

 

* Leading one on one and group tutoring activities

* Developing and executing individual student academic goal maps

* Facilitating mentoring and enrichment groups

* Ongoing planning of program

* Consistent attendance and punctuality

 
Candidates need to have experience working with youth ages 10-15, are knowledgeable in all major academic subjects including middle and high school math and reading. The individual should have an awareness of the youth culture of the surrounding Highland Park and Eagle Rock communities.

 

Monday-Thursday

Hours: 3:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.

Locations:  Hathaway-Sycamores Family Resource Center

Mustangs on the Move Tutoring (Closed)

 

Positions: 6-8

John Muir Afterschool Tutoring runs Tuesday- Thursday from 2:45 - 5:30 p.m. Tutors will work with students in 9-12 grade and tutor in Math, Science, English and History.

 

Tuesday-Thursday

Hours: 2:45 p.m.-5:30 p.m.,

Locations:  John Muir High School, Pasadena, CA

 

 

Title One Tutor

Positions: 20

Title One tutors work with 8th and 9th  grade students at Eagle Rock High School.  The program takes place during the regular school day.

 

Monday, Wednesday, & Friday

7:45 a.m. - 10:15 a.m.

10:30 a.m. - 12:45 a.m.

 

 

All positions listed are open to all students from all years (including work-study) and volunteer students.  If you love working with children or adolescents, enjoy sharing knowledge, skills, or your life experiences, and would like to make a difference in our community—YOU QUALIFY!!

You don’t need a car (we can provide transportation), and we encourage students who are new to tutoring and mentoring!

The time commitment for L.A. Bridges, Title One, and GEAR UP is a minimum of 6 hours (two days at 3 hours a day) and maximum of 9 hours a week depending on your availability.

**Applicants will be placed according to their experience and availability.
